I am on Snapchat. I am on everything. I kind of catch up with that. And of course to ensure that I am a good MC and host of big events in the US and here, I have to make sure I am on point with what is going on in Nigeria”.
What about her Style? How did she come up with a style that works for her? “It's inborn”, she says. “I always joke with people that it is abinibiand not ability. My father was a stylish man. My grandfather, from Ilaro, was a very stylish man. He was like 6feettall. That is where I got my height from. He was always very stylish. I like to just look nice”.
“Even, when I was in High School, I was very creative with my dressing, with the way I wore my uniform and with the way I put on my beret. Its just an inbuilt thing. And when I met my husband, I just realised that I am just so blessed. He has never for once gone against me doing something that is fashionable. He always tells people that I am responsible for his being stylish. In all modesty, I can take the credit when it comes to his Nigerian outfits. But when it comes to his English outfits, I am following my husband. All his collections are Robert Graham. These are $500 shirts. He spends a lot on looking good. He encourages me to look nice. He makes me go to Europe to stock up on nice things, to acquire all the designer outfits, bags, and shoes. He is just a blessing”.
How has her new Erelu title changed her lifestyle? “The chieftaincy was last December. Since January this year, I have changed my Style and Lifestyle. Even my MC job, I don’t do it anymore, except for a few selected people. When I took up the Erelu title in Abeokuta, they called me aside and they told me what is expected of me. Even though it is an honourary title now, in the olden days it wasn’t just an honourary thing. They wanted me to know how to carry myself. I am from Ile-Ife. I am very, very traditional. I pay a lot of attention to Culture and Tradition.
I am an Erelu. I am also a Yeye. I am a Cultural Ambassador.”
How does she design her traditional outfits? “My designer is called Body Wrap Couture. She takes care of my wardrobe. She knows I like a lot of Blings. I met her 4 years ago. I trust her. She is here in Nigeria. I come to Nigeria all the time. I am very creative also with my designs. I tell her what I want from her”.
