Few weeks back, precisely 6th May 2019, the outgoing senator representing Oyo South Senatorial district, Soji Akanbi clocked 57 in style. It was indeed celebration galore for the family, friends and well-wishers of the stylish senator; there were accolades and tributes on both print and social medias. One of such accolades, however, was a powerful love message put together by Senator Soji Akanbi's wife, Chief (Mrs) Folake Akanbi, to celebrate husband. It was a highly touching and romantic words.
In the said message, Folake Akanbi didn't only praised her husband to high heaven, she revealed why his 57th birthday was so special. "It’s not common to have your birthday celebrated on the 1st day of a Blessed month like Ramadan. Only a Great Man of Firsts, who is an achiever and Blessed can achieve this fit. May your light never go dim. Greater you In Shaa Allah. Happy birthday Okanlomo tio ‘common’, Olowo ori oko Aduksie,"she wrote.
Going further in her message, Folake also revealed the strong bond they share as husband and wife and how Soji Akanbi has been her source of inspiration and pillar in these past years of their married life for 29 good years now. How they have been complimenting each other and all.
"Celebrating my husband, my bestie, my brother, my fight mate, my greatest Critic, my teacher, my greatest admirer, my simply ‘Adesoji Alade olowo ori oko Duksie’! A bundle of wisdom and inspiration. With you, I always feel comfortable that God is on my side, and will never let me down, and indeed Almighty Allah has been very kind to us.
Every morning when we have cause to celebrate like this, I weep and thank God for us. It’s been 29 long, eventful and fruitful years, yet that look of admiration has refused to fade away. I can’t thank God enough, I can’t thank you enough for helping me to be who I am today.
Darling dearest as you step into your new age, may Allah continue to cause His face to shine upon you and add plenty more grace to your greatness. May Allah’s Rahma, Sekiina and Baraka be upon You, our lives and home always. As you have given me the opportunity to grow with you, may we age gracefully together and continue to count our blessings. Above all, I pray for longer life in good health and sound mind to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Meanwhile, clocking 57 to Soji Akanbi is unique in many ways; apart from the fact that God spared his life to witness yet another birthday, he has been delivered on his promises to his constituents. That is a symbol of a gentle man and omoluabi that Soji Akanbi is. At 57, Soji Akanbi has no doubt a fulfilled man; he is a successful businessman and a politician of note, he is a darling husband to his wife and loving father to his children. Not only that, his life has been a great and positive influence on many others; he has touched and still touching many lives through his empowerment projects. Hundreds of youths have been trained in one vocational skill or the other, he has renovated many schools in his constituency and dug many motorized boreholes.
He believes strongly in teaching people how to fish rather than giving them fish and that has really helped in developing his immediate environment and it has endeared him more to his people. No wonder he was given a chieftaincy tittle of the 'Okanlomo of Ibadanland' by the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1.
