Call Me A Gossip Merchant, l don't Mind - Popular Blogger, Stella Dimokokorkus

Stella Dimokokorkus is a big name online. She is a popular blogger who is good at what she does for a living. She is known for breaking stories. She lives in Germany with her husband and lovely kids.

A few days ago, she told Citypeople Online Fashion and beauty Magazine her success story with her premium brand.

She is happy with the giant strides that her brand has witnessed over the last few years.

You are one of the pioneers of blogging What made you go into that line of business at that time when other journalists were still sleeping?

I don’t see myself as one of the pioneers of blogging. I joined the party rather late but caught up with them quite fast, while other Journalists were sleeping.

Well, I saw the social media taking over, and I knew it was only a matter of time before print journalism suffered. I would have breaking stories, that I would be saving to break on the print, and I would see it online.

That’s one of the major reasons I decided to my thing online. I would also hear people say they couldn’t buy the magazine because they prefer to use their last Naira to buy subscription to go online. Everyone has woken up to the reality that print is over for entertainment.

How has the journey been so far? How do you feel with what you have achieved with your brand?

The journey has not been easy especially when one has a family.  Blogging is a full time job and if you are married to someone who’s doesn’t understand your dream or passion, you would get to a point where you might be forced to chose.

My brand? I feel proud to have made a difference and shown that anything is possible no matter where you are.

I am a success story, if I look back at where I started from. It was a rough and uneasy path, and sometimes when I look at the lion in the jungle that I have become, I thank God for the threshold I passed through. My brand is different and Unique and has the seal of the most high God.

How do you cope with those who beef you?

Hmmmmm!  ....it’s not easy at all but I am a very positive minded person. So, for me, I see no beef, just a job that needs to be done. I try to be open and friendly with everyone and always reach out and apologize if I think a story has gotten someone beefing me. I don’t see beef really.

How do you relate with other bloggers

When you say other bloggers, that’s a large description because almost everyone blogs in Nigeria. There are too many of them and I cannot keep up. What I try to do is stay on my boulevard by relating more with journalists.

The bloggers look for traffic and the journalists look for news. I love news and gossip, so I stay where is comfortable for me. No shade directed at anyone.

How do you react to those who call you a gossip merchant? Is that what you do?

Gossips merchant? Well that’s what I am, but I choose to see my kind of gossip as inspirational and motivational. Yes, I am a gossip merchant. Gossip is not bad, if it corrects and entertains.

The people who give me a bad name are worse than I am. I have seen people who are not journalists but whose gossip has unbaked what was baked. I am very proud of who I am and what I do.

In the beginning, I made mistakes trying to learn how this job goes and some people still judge me by those mistakes. But I have learnt to ignore what needs to be ignored, and face what needs to be faced. I am a very self confident person and sometimes, it rubs off as arrogance, but I am not.

What is your typical day like How does it feel being online every minute 24/7

For me everyday is not the same and I’m online 24/7. I have learnt to balance my time. I am a mother and a wife and those two jobs are more important than Blogging but I have learnt to balance them. It’s not easy but with practice, anything is possible.
