FOLAKE AFOLABI's Love For Fashion Revealed

Folake Halimah Afolabi is an Accountant and a brilliant one for that matter But despite her love for the accounting profession and despite the fact that she has a full-time job as an Accountant she has a 2nd love which is Fashion. She has a Jewellery business as a side business. How did she develop her passion for fashion?

Let me begin by saying I love to look good always, maybe because of my height anyway. I love when people say oh, she is tall but knows what style befits her height and stature.

I am someone who doesn't really flow with wearing anything trending, I love to create my style, and because of my height, most of my tailors find it difficult to get my clothes sewed to taste, most especially when I try to copy a trending style, so I developed a strategy of working closely with them. If there is a need for me to copy a style, I don't copy it 100%, I try to add my own creativity to it, and in doing so, I started developing interest.

How did it start?

My Jewelry line was birthed July 2018 because of this same passion I spoke about earlier. I love jewelry a lot because it is one of the most attractive accessories people first notice when they see you.

I spend more on jewelry than even buying clothes, when I see jewelry I love, I buy it and keep even when there is no immediate need for it or an occasion to wear it to. I also help some of my friends choose nice designs when they want to source for jewelry. People would see me and ask, I love the jewelry you are putting on, where can I get this same design? So I asked myself one day, why not turn this passion into a business? And before I know it, I saw Hally's Jewelry coming into fruition.

She is stylish. What determines what she wears to parties?

The type of party I'm attending determines what I will wear, because it gives me a clue on which dress to Wear, whether to put on a heavy or light make up, what shoes to put on, and most importantly, what jewelry would befit such occasion.
