Irene Dele-Adejumo is a very successful and accomplished entrepreneur who is currently making waves in the Beauty Sector.
She owns Omolewa Cosmetics and it is a range of products that many ladies like to use right now.
She talks about how the idea Omolewa was born;
I had just shut down my computer after placing an order with my manufacturer for my very first product, the Omolewa Eye Shadow Palette. I was happy with my product, but terrified of the whole process. What if I failed? What if the manufacturer did not deliver as promised? What if...???
I took a deep breath, while holding the sample palette in my hand, and said a prayer. I said God, if this is your will, send me a sign before I wire every dime of my savings over. I slid the palette under my pillow and went to bed. That night I had a dream. In the dream I saw many products with my logo on them and I looked excited.
Excited to see the fruition of my hard work pay off. Excited to see women creating bold and braze looks with the makeup I had designed. In the same dream, I saw myself empowering other women to follow their passion, to pursue their wildest aspirations. That dream was just the final push I needed to believe in something greater than I had ever done before, and take that leap of faith.
As a makeup artist, I realized my clients would comfortably share their dreams and aspirations with me the moment they sat down in my chair and I started their makeup session. As I applied the makeup to their face, they told me about their creative ideas for side hustles, yet often would feel defeated or overwhelmed in pursuing them before they’d even given it a shot!
I encouraged them to pursue their dreams and by the time I was done, they felt more confident in themselves and empowered to take some baby steps towards their vision. I thought, if that one session could give them that extra bit of confidence they needed to pursue their God-given talent, could I create a makeup brand, a community for women to not only create bold looks but bold lives?
That is how Omolewa Cosmetics was born. Omolewa, my middle name, means a ‘Beautiful Child’ in Yoruba, a Nigerian language. Today, I want to share this name with you—the powerful woman you see in front of the mirror that is beautiful inside and out. You are enough and everything you need to take that leap of faith and achieve your dreams.
Working with celebrities like Jackie Appiah and Adunni Ade has inspired me to expand my makeup line to suit the various shades and tone ranges of all women and bring that red carpet ready makeup to the everyday woman who wants to live her boldest, most badass life. Our products are highly pigmented and long lasting. We are now Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Non Toxic, Vegan and Cruelty Free.
We’re on a mission to empower women of color to follow their dreams. We believe that women should feel confident enough to be true to themselves and be in control of their own destiny regardless of what others think. We encourage you to live a bold life in a bold look.
