Why Yeye Oge KEMI AJAYI Is Popular In MANCHESTER

She is a Nigerian celebrity woman who lives in Manchester. She is well known there and she has built a solid reputation for herself.
She is also a socialite in Manchester. She is the Yeye Oge of llaa Ijesha in Manchester.
City People Online Fashion and Beauty Magazine asked her how she made it in Manchester and she revealed a lot.

MY PROFILE

My name is Patricia Olukemi Ajayi. The Yeye Oge of IlaaIjeshain Manchester.

I was born on the 16th of April 1966 to Late Chief and MrsAkinyemiAjayiof OyeEkiti.  I was born and raised in Lagos Stateuntil the age of 26.  I went to Ladi-Lak Primary SchoolYaba, Lagos. Then proceeded to St Louis Girls Grammar School Ikere Ekiti Nigeria. I completed my secondary school education successfully then went for my A' levels at the Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife.

I was given an admission to study English at the Universityof Lagosinstead of Law, so I declined the offer and went to study MassCommunications, also known as (Media Studies) at the FederalPolytechnicBida, NigerState,   where I got my Ordinary National Diploma (OND) qualifications.

I did my 3 months’ work placement as a reporter at the NigerianTelevisionAuthority(NTA) Oba-Ile Akure and my one year Industrial Training at VanguardNewspapersKirikiri, Lagoswhere I was the Transport correspondent and met the following people, GabrielOtaru, JimiDisu, FolaAgbe(now in USA) Tony Okonedo etc This also gave me an opportunity to meet many prominent people like Akeem Olajuwon, PromiseFingesi, OlabodeGeorge, ColTonyNyiamand many more. As a trainee reporter in Vanguard, I wrote a few headlines stories (bylines) and it was a good experience for me.

Following my industrial training at Vanguard Newspapers, I completed my Higher National Diploma (HND) in MassCommunicationat OgunStatePolytechnic, Abeokuta now known as Moshood Abiola University.

I later participated in the  National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)  and served at the Nigerian Army Public RelationsDepartmentin BonnyCamp(now Bonny Cantonment), Lagos where I  worked directly with Col Fred Chijuka (Rtd), the then Director of the Nigerian Army Public  Relations.  This was where I had the opportunity of meeting some top military officers in Nigeria.

I had a short spell as a Public Relations Officerat MontgomeryVaults, Yaba, Lagosin Nigeria before joining my late husband in the UK in1992.

Coming to the UK was a milestone in my life and an eye opener for me because it I have the opportunity to compare the socio-economic life of average citizens in Nigeria with that of the UK. This is looking at a socio phenomenon from different perspectives.  I was able to see how the Nigerian masses have suffered in the hands of the government.

How a lot of people have been traumatised and abused by those who were meant to look after them.  I was able to dichotomise between the norm and what is classed as abuse.  I became interested in humanitarian work and the caring profession.

I then worked in various private healthcare settings as HealthCareAssistant(HCA) to gain relevant basic skills and knowledge necessary for me to enrol on a degree programme in Nursing.

In 2007, I completed my  nursing programme at the Universityof Manchesterwhere I obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree, BSc (Hons) in Nursing Practice and I specialised in MentalHealthNursing

I  worked briefly in a private  Forensic Hospitalbefore joining the  National Health Service(NHS) in United Kingdom where I have been working as a staff nurse for over a decade. I am a Registered Mental HealthNurse(RMN).

Apart from being a nurse, I am also a motivational speaker.  I have been a guest speaker on FemaleGenitalMutilation(FGM) at some conferences organised by some Universities such as the Universityof Chesterand Universityof Salford.

Eradication of the barbaric practice of FemaleGenitalMutilation(FGM) is my passion and I use my experience to raise awareness and discourage people from this practice. I talk about the Biopsychosocial effect of FGM on Survivors.

I am also a Social Media Critic and i use my platform for health promotion and health awareness topics.  Although, I try to avoid talking about Politics but it will be cruel to ignore the suffering of the masses under corrupt leadership hence I sometimes comment on the Nigerian Political System and the Challenges of the Voters.
I am a single parent, blessed with an intelligent beautiful daughter called Izzy. She is also a registered nurse and she is my world. I love her to bits.

My hobbies include travelling, cooking, socialising, writing, motivationalspeaking, interactingon socialmedia, networkingand meetingnewpeople.

The vision which I am currently working on is to set up an associationof NigerianProfessionalNurses in Manchester.  This will give us an opportunity to discuss professional issues and how Nigerian nurses in Manchester can make a difference in UK, particularly in Manchester and its environs.  How we can help each other professionally and jointly tackle the Challenges of the Nigerian Nurses in UK.

I am a caring and compassionate person and anything to do with the emancipation of the masses has always been my passion.

I was conferred with the chieftancytitleof the Yeye Oge of Ilaa Ijesha in Manchesterby KabiyesiHRMObaAdewaleOjarotadethe Alaaof ilaaIjeshaon the 23rd of March 2019. I hereby say a big thank you to his RoyalMajesty Oba Adewale Ojarotadeand  Olori Kehinde Ojarotadeas well as Chief Lekan Fayemi the Atayeseof IlaaIjeshaland for counting me worthy to be offered a chieftaincy  award in recognition of my contribution to humanity.

I have been mentoring some of our youths who have approached me for support. Apart from offering my widow's mite, I also offer emotional support and signposting people to where they can get help. The number of people with depression in Africa particularly in Nigeria is unbelievable and cases of suicide in Nigeria is epidemic.

When people have someone they trust that can offer listening ears, they are able to ventilate their feelings and share their problems consequently one has been able to encourage them to seek medical advice. I have promised to donate certain amount of money every year as a trust fund to Students who have performed excellently well in Mathematics and English in Ilaa Ijesha. Hopefully, this will encourage better performance in these two subjects.

My nursing profession is a humanitarian work and I see the chieftancy award as an extension of humanitarian services to the people of Ilaa.

I love fashion and this I took from my late mother. She was a fashion icon in her time. From when I was young I have always been known as a fashionable girl. In all the schools and colleges I have attended, they have given me one nickname relating to fashion.

At Oscas Ife I was called KemiCosme(meaning Kemi the cosmethologist) because of my make-up. In Secondary school I was actually nicknamed Yeye Oge by one of my classmates Ronke Oso. She actually highlighted this on my Facebook Page after I was officially given the title of YeyeOge, 41 years after her prediction. I now believe in the popularly saying that "you will know a dog whose tail is going to be long from when they were puppies".

At Federal Poly Bida, I was called the swinging journalist because of the way I walk. At Ogun State Polytechnic, I was known as 'the dancing Journalist' because of my dance steps. I carefully select my outfits and I do not like common materials; I live simplicity with class.  I have a passion for wrist watches and I collect designer watches.  Unfortunately, I lost most of my jewelry collections to burglars when my house was broken into in 2017.

Despite the incident, I have tried to maintain my fashion standard at all times. I make sure that no matter how tired I am, I wash off my makeup and moisturise my face every night.  I also love to try out different combinations of perfume I do not tolerate body and mouth odour. I believe that people must perform basic hygiene, after all, cleanliness they say is next to Godliness.

I have a dual nationality so my advice is for both the Nigerianand Britishyouths

My advice for the youths in Nigeria is that they are the leaders of tomorrow and they should not lose hope, Nigeria is a great nation and the way foward for the youths is to make a difference by being honest. Honesty in every aspects of their lives will help form a solid foundation for a better Nigeria. They should also remain focused and emulate good examples.

The issue of gun crime among Nigerian youths living in the UKis almost becoming uncontrollable. Some of them have joined bad gangs and have gotten involved in criminal activities, many innocent people have lost their lives prematurely as a result of gun crime. My advice to the youths living in Britain is for them to please drop their guns and be their brothers' keeper.

Thank you.
