Life As A Radio Presenter At CLASSIC FM ABUJA - MATILDA DUNCAN Tells City People

Matilda Duncan is a top notch presenter for Classic Fm Abuja. She started her broadcasting career from Rhythm Fm. She worked with Rhythm Fm for 18 years and then moved on to Classic Fm in July 2, 2018. Matilda was inspired by her brother, Mofe Duncan, who left radio for acting.

Matilda happens to be a very pretty lady filled with lots of energy and positive vibes around her. She is highly recognized for her skills as an entertaining voice personality. She recently had a chat with City People Entertainment Reporter PRECIOUS POMAA and she talked about how her brother influenced her to go into broadcasting.

Tell us about yourself?
My name is Matilda Duncan, I am the Program Director of Classic FM Abuja and I have been doing radio for 20 years. It has been Radio, entertainment and a little bit of emceeing. I am a Rotarian as well. Single and not searching (laughs).

As a woman, how did you get up with all the energy, adding with your size?
It’s just God and nothing more nothing less. I can’t even take credit for myself. I didn’t anything about it, it’s just God. When the micro phone gets into my hand I am a total different person, so that’s what it is.

So you’ve being doing this for 20 years now, how did it start for you?
Appreciation to my brother as always who was into Radio and decided to put me on Radio. Let me just say I took over from him because now he’s into acting and I am fully on radio.

What would you say have been your challenges so far?
Well, at this point, nothing because it’s very normal right now but earlier on, it was having nothing to say.But now it’s like a regular thing, you wake up, you sleep, you eat, then, do radio.Nothing more, nothing less, no challenges, though situation has changed because of social media but its’ nothing we can’t handle.

You said your brother introduced you to Radio, did you feel that was the right thing for you?
I wanted to do Law but I was open to anything , I got  the hang of radio in 2 weeks and I loved it and I grabbed it like it was mine and its mine forever till my death.

Did you train yourself to talk this way?
No, I didn’t. I grew up in England. Just traveling from one country to another and have got fun and crazy friends to be with, and its knowledge, reading books and learning pronunciations and that has been it.

What do you have to say to people out there that would like to go into Radio?
First of all, don’t try to be anyone else, base your trust in God, He will direct you in every step that you take and you will be alright.

You said you are single and not searching, why?
I am single but I was only joking about not searching but God is finding my locator, (laughs) I shouldn’t be finding my husband, he’s supposed to find me.

So tell us what’s your kind of man?
God fearing, intelligent, smart and he has to be funny and I don’t care if he’s tall or short.
