Erelu Abike Ade &Her Humanitarian Work

This is a story of a pretty lady of virtue. lt is the story of a lovely lady who likes giving back to society

She likes to help people. It is the story of Erelu Abike Ade &Her Humanitarian work.

She has done a lot wih her foundation and Citypeople recently asked her what made her go into such a big project of touching lives. She revealed a lot.

My name is Ms Victoria Omolola Olagoke-Harley, popularly known as Erelu Abike Ade.

I am a native of Ijesa Isu Ekiti, in Ekiti State.  My parents are deceased, my late father, Mr D.F. Olagoke  was a retired teacher & my Mum was a business woman, a building contractor.

I had my primary & school days in Ekiti State, part of my primary school was in Ilorin, Kwara State but completed at Ido Ekiti & my secondary school was at Ekiti Parapo College also in Ido Ekiti.

I finished my secondary education in 1980 & immediately joined the then Nigerian Airways initially as a ground staff.

I got married in 1985, had a beautiful girl & in 1989 I travelled to United kingdom (UK).

While in UK, I had my first degree in Business & Finance from South Bank University,  I worked briefly with Natwest Bank before I started my own business (Fashion & hairdressing Boutique).

I had another child in UK (Boy) in 1991 after my graduation. I lost my husband in October 1998.

After the death of my husband, I went through some difficulties, & challenges. I was unable to feed myself & my children because I do not have access to public funds (No recourse to public funds) as I am unable to work due to my immigration status.

I depend on friends to feed & at times, will go out of my way begging to survive.

At some point, the UK immigrations asked me to leave the country because I came into the country with student visa. So I was advised to leave even though I still wish to further my education.

Not to bore you with my life stories, God look down and answered my prayers. I was given indefinite leave to remain in the country with my children & to God be the glory, I am now a British Citizen.

While I was going through the challenges,   I make a vow to God that if I can come out of the difficulties, I promised to give back to the community.

Our God is a covenant keeping God. He kept to His promises, therefore I decided to work & reach out to the Community by supporting people that are in need.

Media Career & Acting

I started acting & have appeared in more than 10 movies, have appeared in movies alongside with: Motola Jalade, Ramsey Noah, Jide Kosoko, Baba Suwe & other prominent names in the industry.

I started my media career late in 1998 - 2000 with N'Power Radio in London as a presenter.

I moved to Naijafm in 2002 - 2018

I currently run & own online CRYSTAL AFRICAN TV & RADIO

ABIKE ADE FOUNDATION
I started my humanity outreach in 2006 while I was at The Greenwich University about finishing my training in psychiatry. Sorry I went back to University the 2nd time to train as a psychiatric Nurse & I am practicing with NHS, I am currently a senior Charged Nurse with NHS.

Abike Ade Foundation (AAF) was well known in UK & popular within Nigerian sphere. AAF was fully registered in 2009 in UK & Registered in Nigeria with CAC in 2014.

To God be the glory, AAF has great evidence based records of our charity work & outreach carried out in different States & Community www.abikeadefoundation.org

We gave scholarship to less privilege children, as we all know that if you educate a child, you have empowered a nation. We trained & also empowered those that requires skills etc.

AAF supplies wheelchairs to people living with disability & we also empowered them in our little way.

FUTURE PLAN
We have plan to grow bigger and be able to reach out to many.

FUNDING/DONORS

AAF do not have regular donors nor funding.
AAF solicits for funds through individual durng our annual event where awards are been given to our individual donors.

As the CEO of AAF, I donates my salary towards the running of the charity. This is where my heart is & for the facts that I was once less privileged, I took it upon myself to reach out to people that the government cannot support.
Government cannot reach out to a country of over 150 million people . I believe we (Nigerians) have to support the government to empower individual in our country otherwise,  our country Nigeria will remain backward & poor.

APPEAL

Abike Ade Foundation is appealing for support from individuals, corporate bodies & government parastatals to come & partner with us, so that we can educate & empower the less privilege within our community.

Please nothing is too small
