AFTER BIG BROTHER NIGERIA – POSITIVES FOR BAYELSA AND THE NIGER DELTA

Ongoing at the moment, is the current edition of Big Brother Nigeria also titled BBNLOCKDOWN2020.

Lockdown as we know is also an aspect of the new normal, helping to stop the spread of Covid-19. A good entertainment programme is just what is needed to get the nation engaged while at home trying to stay safe. And Big Brother Nigeria is doing just that. The buzz from opposing factions and supporters of different housemates have been keeping social media agog.

In the house this year are two house mates not just from the same region, but from the same state. Bayelsa state to be precise. This is a region/state that have been plagued with negative narratives that the people are saboteurs against each other, lack of love, unity or cooperation is their stock in trade. Watching Timmy and Nengi, there seems to be hope for the future that the narrative will change.

Trikytee and Nengi instead of  going against each other have looked as though they have come to embrace their common heritage. There seem to be an unspoken respect and understanding which is desperately needed in the state and the region.

So who are these trailblazers and pathfinders?
Meet Tarimotimi Sinclair popularly called Timmy or Trikytee. He is a creative from Odi in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area in Bayelsa state. He was born in Lagos, but attended the University of Port Harcourt where he studied Theater Arts.

Trikytee is a storyteller, he uses films and music as his medium of expression. He is also a comedian and loves wearing a bandana. He is a firm believer that hard work pays, and is also called the hustle 101 General. If you do not put in the hustle and the muscle you no go chop. It brings to mind the Nigerian saying, no food for lazy man.

One of his achievements as a youth corper was winning the overall best Director for stage drama at the NYSC cultural and sports festival in Abuja 2013. His God given talent and skills have come to play in the Big Brother house, going by how many tasks won, using his know how. He has picked up a new healthy lifestyle of doing pushups and intends to keep it that way.

Trikytee believes that nobody is promised tomorrow, so live life to the fullest while you can.

Rebecca Nengi Hampson is a graduate of Linguistics and Communications studies also from the University of Port Harcourt . She is from Nembe/Brass Local Government Area in Bayelsa state. An ex beauty Queen with two crowns under her belt. The term beauty and brains comes to mind. And truly so because Nengi is also an astute businesswoman who owns the shoe brand called Shoesbyflora.

Nengi was Queen of Trust 2013, and Miss Bayelsa 2014. She also made it to the top 5 in the prestigious Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria MBGN beauty pageant 2017. Nengi loves God and humanity which is why lives by the saying, Be the best version of yourself and love humanity.
In the Big Brother house she was the first Head of House. It was a peaceful reign. She has carries herself quite well, befitting of a beauty Queen.

Big Brother Nigeria is a competition where only one winner emerges. However, in the long run, life after the competition continues. As a state and a region, these young representatives should be a beacon of hope to the Bayelsa people, and people of the Niger Delta that working together only works for the greater good. It enriches and develops the area which is beneficial in the end.

Wishing Nengi and Trikytee every success in the BBN house and life after the competition.
