Citypeople Set To Celebrate Popular London Actress,Labake

Labake is a beautiful lady who is doing well in her chosen profession in London. She is a breath of fresh air. She is talented. She is creative. She is good at what she does. She is a professional actress. And an award-winning actress who has featured in so many productions.

Citypeople Online recently got her to talk about her success story and she revealed a whole lot about her acting life.

Many don't know that she is a Specialist Financial Adviser with Eunisure UK where she presently resides.

We asked her to tell us about herself and she told Citypeople a lot about how she was born a twin.

"I was born (a set of Twin Girls) on the 22nd of April from the south western part of Nigeria."

"From childhood, acting had always been an indelible part of my community life, hence , having bagged a Diploma in Law from the University of Ibadan in 1999 and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Abuja in 2004, it became more evident that I have a passion for creating different personalities, improvising, and adapting to whatever role I had to play. I realized my debut appearance in the famous Nigerian family soap "Fortunes”. It’s often said in Africa that "what one loves to do.. one finds the time to do it…” So after a brief career break,i

resumed acting in 2016 and since then i have starred in several movies like “In a strange land " , “ Apostle Do Good” , “My London Slave” , “The Bridge” and ultimately produced the blockbuster SISTASISTA, which screened  at the Odeon Imax cinema in London and all Silverbed cinemas across Nigeria. SISTA SISTA is a must-watch, and its currently showing on Airtel TV."

Everybody calls her Labake. Is that her real name or an alias?

"My real name is Zainab Labake Popoola. But i adopted LÀBÁKÉ as my stage name, but indeed it’s not an alias, it’s part of my names. As it’s the norm amongst the southwestern Nigerians to christen their children with more than one first name."

How has she coped with the industry ?"I am very grateful for having the opportunity to have worked with great minds and screen veterans in my evolution in the entertainment industry.l am talking of such people as Prince Jide kosoko, Rachel Oniga ,  and the younger yet extremely universal Belinda Effaa , Eyinna Nwigwe, Bolanle Ninalowo and fantastic producer/ Directors Obi Emelonye , Biodun Stephen, Victoria Cooper to mention but a few."

"They have motivated and played unique roles in shaping and making every step of the journey worth while .. the results are the nominations and international awards that I have received."

“I pleasantly received my first BEFTA awards in the UK for Best Supporting Actress in the Entertainment/Movie category in 2017 (Apostle Do Good),"she explained excitedly.

In November 2018.. I received a GAB award for an outstanding performance in the Arts category at the prestigious (Gathering of Africa's Best) Awards.

She emerged the Best Lead Actor (female)UK at the famous AFRICAN FILM AWARDS in November 2018

In November 2019 ZAFAA (African film Academy Awards) she was awarded Best supporting actor female.

She has also won other awards and all these have helped to make her brand become big .

In December 2019, she received a merit award in the Arts and Entertainment category at the NIGERIAN BRITISH MERIT AWARD London.

This beautiful Award-winning actress says,"I am very delighted and wish that I will in turn encourage others to follow their dreams and keep working at it..I want to say a big thank you to the entire team of City People for what you have done.. And the one you are still doing to encourage those of us in the creative industry." "I urge everyone to watch SISTASISTA on AIRTEL TV and look out for me as “Mrs. B”  in yet another thrilling movie NEXTPHASE (Mõyò) a shutter speed project directed by Biodun Stephen and produced by Jumoke Coker.
