25 New And Pretty Actresses We Hardly Talk About In The Nollywood Industry

 

A whole lot has changed and there are new damsels in town. They will be making up the series of 25 new and pretty actresses we hardly talk about in the Nollywood industry, They are beautiful, vivacious, multi-talented and are on top of their trades. They are the new breed of amazing actresses who have changed the looks of Nollywood with their uptown style, rare talents and versatility. Most of them shot into limelight barely two years ago while others got into reckoning as far back as five to six years ago. Meet them:

 

Bukola Shittu (Omotanwa): she started her journey into the world of entertainment as video model before finding her feet as an actress. She started out in the English-speaking sector of Nollywood before true fame found her in the Yoruba sector. She started more like 7 years ago but started her good run a couple of years ago. Her biggest movie is “Omotanwa” from which she got her moniker.

 

Omobewaji Oyediji : Omobewaji Oyediji, simply known on Instagram as Mo’bewa is lively, refreshing and stylish. She belongs to the golden generation of Yoruba actresses who are changing the old narrative into a breezy blend of glamour and class. She could claim to have started acting much earlier than six years ago but her big break came in the TV series “Casino”. She has two Bachelor degrees; one in accounting (2015) and the other in mass communications (2017), both from the University of Lagos.

 

Oloruntimilehin Bosede Bukola: she is popularly known as Kiitan Bukola had her first cameo in a movie in 2010 but her career didn’t pick up professionally until 2016. Kiitan Bukola got the name ‘Kiitan’ added to her name when she produced the film ‘Kiitan’. She has featured in other movies like Ori Eiye, Ero Ife, Surface, Ajoji, Maybe (Boya) and many more.

 

Opeyemi Adetunji : Dark and lovely Opeyemi Adesola Adetunji who has featured in Yoruba blockbuster movies like Omo Alhaja 2, Omo Ijoba, to mention just a few, is a woman fired up to carve a y9 niche for herself in the movie industry. Having produced four movies of her own ‘Mopelola’, “Voice”, “Selflessness” and “Pinch” she’s poised to rub shoulders with the top guns in the industry.

 

Seilat Adebowale: Newly married Seilat Adebowale who took her career to another level in Dayo Amusa’s “Omoniyun” first shot a film in 2014, then picked up a job and returned fully in 2015. She is now one of the upcoming girls hot in demand. She has featured in well over 30 movies. She recently produced her own film “Barrister Seilat”.

 

Ini Dima-Okojie: Is a 30 years old Nigerian born actress, She studied at the New York Film Academy and also attended the “Become A Host” boot camp in Los Angeles. Her break out role as Hadiza, in the movie ‘North East” sparked her ascent to the top as Film & TV’s IT Girl. Her next lead role was a character in the 2016 Romantic Comedy “It’s Her Day”. She is a major cast member on popular TV series Africa Magic’s Battleground as Teniola Bhadmus. She is a young lady with a colorful flair for all things creative, the young and talented rising star has been described as a style icon. Her recent movies are Namaste Wahala and Who Is The Boss{2020}

 

Dorcas Shola Fapson : She is a Nigerian actress and presenter, known for her role in MTV’s Shuga as ‘Sophie’. Fapson was born in London in the 1990s. Her mother died when she was 14 and she took her first degree in Criminology England. She then went on to study acting in New York. In 2020, she returned to the MTV Shuga series as it dealt with coronavirus issues, with the actors doing the filming, over several African countries. The 29 years old actress also featured in the movie Banana Island Ghost {2020}.

 

 Uzoamaka Doris Aniunoh : She is a Nigerian writer and actor. She has been a regular cast member of MTV Shuga appearing in several series including the first and the sixth. Aniunoh was born in Onitsha. She studied at the University of Nigeria and gained followers to a blog she created. In 2015 she moved to the UK where she studied creative writing at the University of Birmingham. Gaining a master’s degree. Aniunoh was in series 6 of MTV Shuga and the role of “Cynthia” was included when it went into a mini-series titled MTV Shuga Alone Together highlighting the problems of Coronavirus on 20 April 2020. The series was written by Tunde Aladese and broadcast every night – its backers include the United Nations. The series was based in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire and the story will progresses using on-line conversations on location between the characters. All of the filming will be done by the actors who include Lerato Walaza, Mamarumo Marokane, Jemima Osunde and many more.

Aniunoh is also a writer and has had work published. An excerpt from her work Balcony was edited and published by the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

 

Mimi Onalaja: Mimi Onalaja is a TV host, presenter, actress, blogger and media personality, The 30 year old has joined the league of celebrities who own a YouTube channel, and her vlog is titled “For the Life of Mimi”. She attended Kemsing School International, Ikoyi, Lagos and Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, for her secondary education. She graduated in 2010 from Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, where she studied International Relations. She also has a diploma in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy, she worked with Deliotte, Ebony TV, She hosted Africa’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards Africa nominees unveiling and the ELOY awards in 2016. Her latest movie is the Smart Money Woman {2020 Unreleased}.

 

Georgina Chloe Eku Edewor-Thorley : she is otherwise known as Eku Edewor, She is a British Nigerian actress, television presenter, and model. She is best known for her work as host of the entertainment television program 53 Extra on Africa Magic. The 33 years old actress graduated from Benenden School, University of Warwick. She has a passionate and captivating aura. Her most recent movie is the Smart Money Woman {2020 Unreleased}.

 

Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama : She is a Nigerian TV, film actress and model. She is well known for her roles in 93 Days, The Wedding Party, The Arbitration, the TV series Gidi Up and gained recognition at the Toronto International Film Festival and Africa International Film Festival. The 32 years old is also the latest ambassador for Multichoice’s DSTV Explora, the widest satellite cable network across Africa. She’s set to feature in the highly anticipated movie, A Soldier’s Story 2 {2020} : Return from the Dead – sequel to 2016 multiple award-winning romantic drama, Somkele holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from McMaster University. She volunteered in several shows for charity at McMaster and modeled during the holidays in Nigeria. Her web site states her work includes Virgin Nigeria, Harp, ETB and Visafone Communications. Somkele said in an interview with punch NG “that she is a very private person”, She further went on saying her mother is her role model. Her strength is admirable and enviable. Her tenacity to keep going on against all odds is also very commendable.

 

Jemima Osunde : Is a Nigerian actress, model and presenter. She gained exposure after playing Leila in the television series Shuga. Osunde was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 15th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performance in The Delivery Boy, she was born into a family of five and is a native of Edo State. She studied physiotherapy at the University of Lagos. Osunde appeared in the film Jungle Jewel after being encouraged by her uncle to pursue acting. The 24 years old actress was casted as Laila in MTV Shuga, appearing in the fourth series. When the show moved to South Africa for its fifth series, Osunde was written out for a year. She returned for the sixth series when it returned to Nigeria. In 2020 she was in the cast of Quam’s Money which is a follow-up to the 2018 film she starred in New Money. The new cast was led by Falz, Toni Tones, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Nse Ikpe-Etim.

 

Adebukola Oladipupo : Is a Nigerian actress who debuted on MTV Shuga, Oladipupo was born in London but educated in Lagos. She has two siblings. Oladipupo had her primary education in Bellina Nursery and Primary School Akoka, Lagos. She also attended Babcock High School and Caleb International School for her secondary education.

The 26 years old was successfully auditioned for MTV Shuga in 2015 where she was given what became the continuing role of “Faa”. She puts her success down to the media mogul Mo Abudu who taught her to have self-belief. In 2015 she appeared in the first season of Indigo, Inevitable and The Other Me. In 2017 she appeared in the film missing as the secretary playing herself. Her film credits include – Moms at War, Phases (NdaniTV), The Men’s Club, and Africa Magic Forbidden. Oladipupo was still in MTV Shuga as the character “Faa”, she went into a nightly mini series titled MTV Shuga Alone Together highlighting the problems of Coronavirus in April 2020. The show was broadcast for 60 nights and its backers include the World Health Organization. The series will be based in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and Cote D’Ivoire.

 

Bukunmi Grace Oluwasina : Is a fast rising Nigerian actress, movie producer, singer, musician, playwright, and model. She was born in the early 1990s into a family of seven in which she happens to be the 3rd born of the family. She is a native of Ekiti state (Oke-Imesi). She won the city people movie award for fastest rising actress of the year. Bukunmi is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, she graduated from the department of dramatic art, she is officially married to her longtime boyfriend Ebun Oluwasina, who came into limelight with the award-winning movie ‘Ayomi’, some of the movies she has featured in includes Modebi Olami, Eniitan, Test, Excursion and many more.

The actress also partnered with Pepsi, AVF, and Vivas for the premiere of Ayomi. What is so unbelievable is that Bukunmi shot the movie while she was still studying at the Obafemi Awolowo University. She revealed she was really stressed while at university because she was close to her final year. She was, however, greatly supported and taught how to manage her time. She explained:

 

“One thing I have gotten to learn about life is that too many people complain about time saying there is no time, but the truth is, show me a woman that knows how to manage her time, and I will show you a man who can achieve anything”.

When talking about the challenges she faced in the course of shooting Ayomi, Bukunmi said that there was nothing much her cast and crew couldn’t handle. She had the opportunity to work with amazing actors who took her as their own child, sister, and friend. They are Joke Muyiwa, Gabriel Afolayan, Damola Olatunji, and others.

 

Oluwasina debut movie Ayomi has won many awards and has gotten a number of nominations, including the 2015 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in the Best Indigenous Movie (Yoruba), the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON Awards), MAYA Awards, and ACI Awards.

 

Sharon Onoja : Is a Fast-rising Nigerian actress who has tension her fans with her amazing personality and acting skills. The Mass Communication graduate from Houdegbe North American University Benin. Sharon Onoja came into limelight after playing the role of “Shalewa” in the web series Skinny Girl in Transit. Sharon started her acting career when she moved to Lagos in 2013. She is a native of Benue state who was born in Kaduna and raised in Plateau State, she is 29 years old.
