COLOURS OF OMAWUMI & HER ‘FROS

Currently a judge on the mtnyellowstar TV show, Omawumi Megbele is one of Nigeria and Africa’s influential female musicians. She is our latest celebrity fashion focus.

Blessed with a beautiful and unique voice, which she has shared with with the world through her music, Omawonder as she is popularly called just keeps on giving. She was first runner up at the West African Idol 2007, winner of two Headies Awards 2009 and 2018, she is also an actress. She has featured in stage plays like the V-Monologues, Inale the Musical, and movies which includes The Return of Jenifa, She Is, and the widely acclaimed Oloturè.

Omawumi is also brand ambassador for Malta Guiness, Konga.com, Globacom and an active member of "Rise with the Energy Africa" Campaign. In her career, she has shared stages with renowned artistes like Angelique Kidjo, Tu Face, Angie Stone, P Squre and others which speaks volumes.

When it comes to style and fashion, nothing is more captivating that seeing a woman who knows and owns her style. This knowledge comes with an air of unspoken confidence, and elegance, devoid of arrogance. This is exactly how Omawumi comes across. Maybe I have a gift for reading body languages through photos, lol. (I rarely get that instinct wrong).

Omawunmi's signature hairstyle, the afro is so uniquely hers. Although you are in the here and now, that hairdo immediately transports you to times gone by. Times when exaggerated flare pants, serious stiletto heels, and very high 'fros ruled the fashion scene. Her hairstyle tells the today story, the story of "Africaness” The beauty and uniqueness of our hair and colour and why we must be proud of it.

Her hairstyle and fashion is like a hybrid. Two halves from different eras that fits perfectly. In my opinion, doing fashion right is "when you were the clothes and the clothes don't wear you"   Omawonder wears her outfits and carries them with effortless confidence and elegance.

Jewel toned ensemble in shades like emerald green, yellows, purple, royal blue etc. are winners as colours of choice for her in my opinion. These colours worn as the female Agbada she is known for, or worn as a power suit or dress, fits her like a glove.

Omawumi is married with two beautiful kids and is still keeping the world entertained both as an artiste, an actress and a music competition judge Covid-19 or not.

I have picked out a few of my favourite hairdos and oufits. I hope they excite you as they did me.
