Lake Garda is a choice destination for tourists. This is
a part of Italy covered by forests and vegetation peculiar to Italy. It is also
a great attraction for hikers because of its Alpine mountains.
Tripping was introduced to this beautiful corner of
Northern Italy by Blessing Dau. She could not recommend it highly enough as a
getaway destination if couples or singles would just want to unwind far away
from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This much needed and well deserved break was taken with
her husband. She stated that they both enjoyed the peace and quiet, not
forgetting the breathtaking views and just listening to nature. A very calming
and relaxing feeling she said.
Blessing recommends a visit to several cities in the
region, one of which is Sirmione, with its landmark Scarliger castle, Verona
for its Coliseum now used as a theatre, Lago di Iseo, a small city with
beautiful lakes and mountains. Most importantly she, advised, not to miss
visiting the historical Romeo and Juliet garden made famous by William
Shakespeare in Verona. She also recommends the legendary scenic drive in Strada
della Forra, the tunnel where a scene of the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace
was filmed.
In terms of accommodation, Blessing favours any of the
small family lodges dotted around the area. Such places are perfect for the
much needed peace and quiet. Their choice was the Hotel Degli Olivi which she
described as having stunning views. Guests are treated to very delicious
Italian breakfast, while dinner is a one choice, 3 course, very tasty, homemade
meal prepared by the hotel owner. An experience she describes as memorable.
Eating what Grandma made. For a meal at a restaurant, she recommends Leon d'oro
at Iseo.
Further research came up with other tourist activities
that people can embark on in the Lake Garda area. Some of which are, wind
surfing, cycling, museum, and horse riding with special operators. For the
tourist on a budget, sit down meals are more expensive, so the advice is to go
for street food or fast food. For families with children, there are theme parks
for their entertainment. Adults can enjoy wine tasting, paragliding and thermal
baths all located in different towns within the region, lastly, do not forget
shopping, also said to be fantastic experience.
Lake Garda has a dramatic mountain backdrop, it is made
up of a collection of traditional towns and villages. It makes up part of
Italy's iconic cities because, each town has retained its character and
culture. The people live a very relaxed way of life, they love and celebrate
life and the land. In the north you will find hillside harbour towns, while the
south is filled with Olive and lemon trees which thrives perfectly because of
the weather condition.
Tripping looks forward to visiting Lake Garda for
ourselves hoping to experience its beauty, hospitality and splendor.
