This is the biggest news currently trending across Ijebu land. It is the news of how the great Ijebu industrialist and successful businessman, Otunba Dr. Alexander Onabanjo has emerged as the new Asiwaju of Ago Iwoye. The news broke a few days ago, when the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Oba Abdulrazaq Adesina Adenugba pronounced Otunba Onabanjo as the new Asiwaju of Ago Iwoye, following traditional rites, performed at the Ebumawe's Palace on Friday 12th August to confirm the highly revered title.

The traditional rites was witnessed by the Quarter chiefs, traditional rulers, Chief Imam, CAN Chairman, Market Leaders, Baales, Olorituns, and other high-ranking traditional title holders from Ago-Iwoye.
They all offered prayers for the brand new Asiwaju who turned 70 in 2020.

The King of Ago Iwoye said that the formal installation ceremony of Otunba Onabanjo as the Asiwaju of Ago Iwoye will come up at a later date.

CityPeople can authoritatively reveal that with the announcement of Otunba Alex Onabanjo as the new Asiwaju, this tall and handsome philanthropist succeeds late Chief Jubril Martins Kuye, who held the revered title until his death in January 2021.

Otunba Alex Onabanjo is well respected in Ago Iwoye and across Ijebu land, because of his kind gestures and philanthropy. He is also the Sakinmolu of Ago Iwoye, a title bestowed on him in 1984.

The Ago Iwoye King, Oba Adenugba said Onabanjo was chosen for the title of Asiwaju in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of Ago Iwoye. He described Otunba as a silent philanthropist, and astute community leader who is always ready to use his massive connections and extensive business network to impact positively on his society.
