ABISADE ADENUBI FLOATS GARMENT & TEXTILE FACTORY IN ABEOKUTA

Abisade Adenubi is an international lawyer and a fashion entrepreneur. She is working on a big project in Abeokuta. It's a Textile and Garment factory that promises to change the face of the textile industry.

She told City People Online Fashion and Beauty Magazine about her idea and project.

My name is Abisade Adenubi and I am the Founder/CEO of Heritage Apparel Production Limited.  I am a lawyer by profession and an entrepreneur by vocation.  I trained and qualified as a lawyer in England & Wales and worked for several years in leading international law firms and financial institutions as legal counsel, advising clients on corporate finance and risk issues.

I also have academic interests in the fashion industry and am carrying out advanced level research exploring the role of international law in promoting sustainability in the fashion industry.  In my spare time, I like to read, travel and explore.

Heritage Apparels is the new face of apparel production in Nigeria. It is textiles and garment factory located in Abeokuta, Nigeria with a mandate to establish a sustainable world-class textiles and garment production facility, servicing the apparel needs of various industries nationally, regionally and globally, whilst showcasing the rich cultural heritage of African textiles, creating employment and contributing to capacity building in the industry.

In 2010, I set up a ladies-wear brand designing and creating classic, well-crafted pieces for professionals in the City of London. I partnered with garment factories in Bangkok, Mumbai and London to produce my designs.  In 2015, I began to consider moving my production to Africa as Asia was too far and Europe too expensive for me, so I looked into working with factories in Nigeria - they were few and far between and didn’t offer me the quality standards I had become accustomed to doing production abroad.

So I decided to set up my own production facility and here we are today.

We are now at a stage where we can take on significant orders.   We spent some time setting up the factory with all the relevant equipment and we have now trained 40 operators from scratch in the end-to-end garment production process. Our operators have been trained to international standards by masters from renowned garment factories globally to be able to meet local and international demand for apparel.
