How COVID 19 Lockdown Taught Me A Lot of Lessons ...AKURE's Leading Events Manager, Yinka Michael

Mrs Yinka Michael is very popular in and around Ondo and Ekiti state. She is regarded as the Queen of Events Management, as she handles many high profile events and parties. She is good at what she does. She has a formidable structure that enables her to deliver what ever job she is given. She also has an intimidating profile that makes her clinch jobs easily despite stiff competition from competitors.

Let's tell you more.

Michael Olayinka Amodu is the CEO of P-square outfit, leading event management and venue decoration company in Ondo State and Nigeria.

Olayinka hails from Oke-agbe Akoko area of Ondo State. She is a trained geologist from the prestigious Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

With a drive to become a successful entrepreneur, she started her business.

P-square Bridal Outfit in 2007; an outfit known for class when it comes to Wedding gowns and trendy Fashion. Her business evolved and became an Event Management Company in 2014. A brand that has sustained relevance over the years and has successfully handled event decorations for notable individuals, corporate organizations and top government functionaries across all the Geo political zones of the country in 2015,…

Recently, she told Citypeople Magazine how she coped with the Covid 19 Lockdown and the many lessons she learnt.

Below are excerpts from the interview.

How have you been coping with No Parties and Events for 3 months now due to Lockdown?

It has been a special grace of God. Initially like any other individual, I was disillusioned at the onset of Covid19 pandemic but after ruminating in my mind and seeking the face of God in prayers, several ideas came into my mind out of which three of the ideas looked feasible and I latched unto them and it had been a different story after all. All thanks and glory to God.

The  3 concepts are:

Logistics services on the platform of KUUL DELIVERY where we pick up and deliver goods based on customer's demands and orders which has further helped to boast my other businesses.

The production and delivery of ultra hygenic home made Pap(Ogi/Akamu) of various flavours of ginger, vanilla, strawberry and natural taste.

Packaging of Fruit hampers to be delivered to loved ones on orders from various customers, friends and family both in Nigeria and in diaspora. The responses have been overwhelming whereby friends and customers in diapora and Nigeria place their orders for the KUUL FRUITS HAMPERS and PSQUARE NOURISHING PAP to be packaged and give to their parents, loved ones to show that they really care at this period

What are the lessons you have learnt?

So far so good, depending solely on a single business to generate income to sustain is a disaster at all time. One should have a strings of businesses or side hustle that can generate multiple income. Cash flow is very important in business

You have been in event business for how long now and what has the experience been?

I have been in business for approximately 15 years now out of which 6 of the years have been solely devoted to the Event industry. As for the experience, there are days, weeks, months and years that I come out smelling like a rose but there are other times when I feel like quitting entirely due to the difficult chanllenges faced atimes but each time I take a glance backward,I know that I haven't arrived at the promise Land but it is very obvious that I have left Egypt for good and I know that the future is very bright. Quiters don't win and winners don't give up.

How did you start? How come you are based in Akure and not a place like Lagos?

No one wrestle with destiny. Whatever God has in stock for an individual will surely come to pass. Though,I had dreamt of settling down in a big cities like Lagos,Porthaurcourt and Abuja due to my profession or course of graduation being a geologist, and the opportunity actually came through invitations for jobs interview in Lagos and Porthaurcourt but I got married while in school and my husband is based in Akure here. So the hard choice is either taking a career or keeping a home and I followed my instint by choosing the latter.
