The
common term at the moment is "unprecedented times". Job losses, and job cuts, have seen people
hit hard in the pocket because of the coronavirus pandemic. At this point, not
everyone is in the mood for expensive fashion buys. Going shopping now takes
careful planning and only happens once a week. People are trying to stay safe,
and say it is food over fashion.
Fabulousity
and affordability is the equivalent of designer
Looks For Less, Steal His/Her Style and the like. It is with the aim to
bringing pocket friendly fashion and style ideas based on celebrity or designer
looks. While also encouraging us to look in our wardrobes which might just
throw up long forgotten pieces that can be used to create a celebrity look
without breaking the bank as we prepare
going back to work.
Our
first style idea in this series is how to do florals and stripes. This look
packs a punch. However, if you do not have the confidence to pull it off, I
would advise you play safe and stick to style ideas that suit you.
The
style choice on show came from the Valentino and Gianvito Rossi outfit American socialite, enterpreneur and fashion
influencer, Olivia Palermo wore to the Paris fashion week in October 2016. Her
prints combo caught me wholeheartedly. However, with its hefty price tag, a
pocket friendly version was in the right order.
My
outfit was from Boohoo, F&F Asos and Celine. Celine might be pricey for
some, but you can acquire any of the outfit combinations according to what you
are able to afford. My take was a layered top, multi coloured platform heels,
and a turquoise tote. To give it an African twist, pick up that lovely multi
floral ankara A line skirt lying forgotten in your wardrobe, it will work
perfectly with this look. As earlier said, pulling this off, requires
confidence. It would be brilliant to see one of you try this out. My fabulousity and affordability version of
this outfit is nowhere near its over $3000 mark.
