Ways to maintain healthy lips




We often neglect the lips when taking care of our face and every other part of our body. Our lips is another attractive part of the face and when it’s not properly taken care of , it makes us look unkempt and unhealthy. Succulent and full looking lips may look nice but keeping your lips hydrated and healthy is crucial.



*Exfoliate your lips: before sleeping at night, moisturize with a quality lip balm. Use a damp wash cloth or a toothbrush to gently rub off any dead or dry skin. The air around you tends to dry out your lips while you are asleep. Make sure you use a heavy or hydrating lip cream or petroleum jelly before you sleep.

*Stay hydrated : water is essential to the body system , it helps keep you body healthy and refreshed. Drinking enough water will benefit your body in lots of ways and fuller looking lips are an added benefit.

*A good diet plan: a good diet is crucial for your lips and not just for your skin. The intake of your food especially vitamins and other good nutrients reflects on the outlook of your lips.

*Massage your lips: use nourishing natural oils to massage your lips for 5 mins everyday. It improves blood circulation in your lips and ensure that they get the nutrients that are needed.

*Take off your makeup before going to bed: wipe your lipstick off from your lips before going to bed , leaving your lipstick on when going to bed can result to having a chapped lips.

*Prevent cold sores: cold sores appear on the outer part of the lips in a cluster of blisters. This can be caused by a simple viral infection. You can treat these sores with a cool compress or take an anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling.

*Scrub your lips: it’s crucial to ensure that they stay healthy and soft. Removing dead skin cells is a must to make sure that your lips don’t succumb to any infection. Use any mild scrub that is available from your dermatologist for your lips , don’t buy a lip scrub by your discretion.

*Always have your lips balm intact: you never know when your lips tend to dry out. Make sure you have good creamy and hydrating lips  balm with you when you are away from home.

*Hydrate your space with a humidifier: dry air can dry out lips . Use a humidifier in a space where you spend a lot of time to infuse moisture into the air .

*Quit smoking or chewing tobacco: smoking can cause darkened lips and wrinkles on or around the lips. Smoking can cause oral cancer which can cause unpleasant lip lesions .

*Massage your lips : use nourishing natural oils to massage your lips for 5mins everyday. It improves blood circulation in your lips and ensure that they get the nutrients that are needed.

*Protect lips from the sun : make sure you are using a lip balm with an SPF. Reapplying sunscreen hourly to your lips will give you the best results . Your lips can become damaged by UV rays from sun exposure or even sunless tanning beds.

*Moisturize with aloe Vera gel: aloe Vera gel has soothing and healing properties, helping lips to look their best.

* Use Vitamin E: vitamin E boosts circulation and may help generate new skin cells , making your lips softer.

* Do not touch or lick your lips : lips do not have any protection of their own, it’s essential not to lick or touch your lips , when the saliva evaporated, it will leave the  lips even drier, the enzymes in the saliva are harsh ou your delicate lips.
