Meet New UK Based Naija Afro Pop Singer Making Waves Abroad

The Nigerian music industry has grown faster than imagined in the last two decades thanks to the inputs of young and industrious UK based music icons like JJC & 419 Squad, AY, Queen, D’ Banj, Don Jazzy and recently Naira Marley and the likes.

The arrival of a number of them into the Nigerian music arena changed a lot as they were able to influence and add spice to what they met on ground resulting into more fan base, publicity, shows, endorsements and of course money in their pockets.

The hottest on the block presently rocking the music scene in the UK is a 19 year old Afro Pop Revelation, Tolani Liadi with the stage name “Larnzzz”.

Born in Germany to an Ijebu-Mushin father and an Abeokuta Mum, both of Ogun state origin in Nigeria, Tolani started singing at a very tender age. She was further encouraged by closely observing the style of Ace Fuji Veteran, Adewale Ayuba also known as Mr. Johnson, who has been rocking the music for over 3 decades.

Adding to her credit, Tolani had done a number of singles, prominent among them are “Broda oni guitar” and “2020” rocking the waves in the UK. She also did a cover for her friend in the industry, Barrywhyte in his trendy hit track "Ase se ". Tolani is presently working on a couple of singles which promise to be massive when they hit the charts by March, 2021.

While speaking with Citypeople, The young singer revealed how she developed interest for music.

“ I used to write music for somebody that does music, I used to always see likes, comments on YouTube and I was like this is actually my own work and it’s not like I don’t know how to sing as well. So I said let me try it and see what people think about it because I was so young that I am always proud of myself. I was 14 and I was doing way better than anyone else. People that have been in the industry for years couldn’t reach my own standard. And people are giving me that kind of feedback; oh! You’re so good, well done for doing this, oh! You’re so good, well done for doing that”

She added that the impressive feedbacks she got from her teaming fans spun her to develop much interest in her musical career. The industrious musician described the love she has for her country, Nigeria and how she intends to invest hugely and join in adding values to lives of people in her homeland.

“Nigerians appreciate artistes a lot. If I do something here, there are more people that will appreciate it here than in London. It is not always good to invest in another country when my country is here. This is where my parents grew up; my child will still see this place. Even though everybody have their own belief about this country, if we don’t believe things would get better, it will never get better.”
