Hello amazing day to everyone! I believe you're doing well and enjoying Wellness.

I'll be sharing how to love your brain more.

The Brain is an amazing organ that controls all functions of the body.it interprets information from the outside world and embodies the essence of the mind and soul, intelligence, creativity, memories and emotions are a few of the many things governed by the brain. The brain received information from our five senses and assembles messages in a way that makes meaning to us.

Every brain changes with age and mental functions change with it. Mental decline is one of the most feared consequences of aging.

1) EXCESSIVE SUGAR CONSUMPTION: Excessive sugar intake over a long period affects the body's capacity to absorb proteins and nutrients. Lack of these essential nutrients to the brain can deter the brain's growth and development.

2) NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP: Sleep deprivation can lead to several issues such as lack of concentration, fatigue, drowsiness, impaired memory, etc. Every single night of improper sleep can affect the brain's ability to memorize new information.

Research has also revealed that the brain purifies itself of toxins during the deep sleep cycle. Lack of sleep can cause the death of brain cells which can lead to impaired memory and reduced abilities.

3) MISSING BREAKFAST AND INADEQUATE WATER INTAKE: Some people skip breakfast to save time. This habit can damage the brain. Your body requires essential nutrients to function optimally after a good sleep and skipping breakfast deprives the brain of these essential nutrients. Skipping breakfast results in low blood sugar levels which adversely affects the brain's performance. The brain needs enough water to think faster and focus better. Drinking plenty of water will benefit your body and brain to function better.

4) COVERING YOUR HEAD WHEN SLEEPING: Sleeping with a blanket covering your head might increase the consumption of Carbon dioxide and reduce the intake of oxygen which is very essential for the proper functioning of the brain. Not having enough oxygen can harm the brain cells..

5) SMOKING: Do you know that the addictive in cigarettes also shrinks the brain? In fact, brain shrinkage for a prolonged period can lead to Alzheimer's disease.

1) GET MENTAL STIMULATION: Brainy activities help to stimulate brain cells e.g Reading, taking courses, Research, Mental gymnastics such as solving puzzles, solving Math problems, Experiments, Drawing, Painting, etc. These activities help you stay mentally active.

2) EXERCISE: Exercise helps to improve blood flow and oxygen to the brain and helps to improve one's thoughts.

3) GOOD NUTRITION: Improving your diet can help your mind as well as your body. There are foods that help to make your mind active and help cells to function at optimal levels. Fruits and vegetables, Fish, Nuts, Unsaturated oil, a Plant source of Protein and Natural Nutritional Supplements helps to support brain functions and improve cognitive impairment.

4) CARE FOR YOUR EMOTIONS: Anxiety, Depression, Exhaustion and being sleep deprived can lead to cognitive decline. Good mental health and restful sleep are certainly important goals.

5) Protect your head from moderate to severe head injuries in case of accidents as this can increase the risk of cognitive impairment. Ensure to use a helmet when riding a bike, scaring, or operating heavy duty machines
