Celebrating Popular London Actress, Producer & Director, Doyin Amodu

Within the circle of movie practitioners in London, Doyin Amodu is well known. She is good at what she does. She is a damn good Actress, Producer and Director. She is also the President of the TAMPAN UK Chapter. A few days ago, she spoke to CityPeople about her success story. Below are excerpts.

Tell us a bit about Doyin Amodu...

She is a filmmaker who has been in the industry for more than 26 years. I started my schooling with Lagos Anglican Girls Seminary and later had my West African School Certificate Examination with Ansar Ud Deen Islamic High School, Ipee in 1994.

In 1995, I  started as a trainee producer with Babskos Film Production owned by Prince Jide Kosoko. I graduated in 1999 and co-produced my first movie Oja Okunkun with other four partners after founding Atimi Film Production same year.

However, I established MAAM'S PRODUCTIONS LIMITED in 1998 on which platform I produced Omoye My Son and several others. I was also involved in many other television and movie productions between 1999 and 2005 before I moved to the UK.

In the United Kingdom, I did many professional courses such as Childcare, Adult Care and Mental Health. I also did few short courses in Filmmaking, I did an introduction to Cinematography with Spectacles Production Limited.

I graduated with a first-class in Film Practice from London Southbank University and majored in Directing.

I directed the cinema movie Forever Mine in 2020."

How is TAMPAN UK organised? How does it run?

TAMPAN as an association has a set rule and the UK chapter finds it convenient to go by the laydown structure. In London, we produce and direct films. We bring productions to Nigeria to make with the infusion of members of Nigerian TAMPAN. We pay dues to the covers of the association and we observe the standard set by the association.
