CityPeople Celebrates US Based Beautiful Dance Instructor & Actress, Bimpe Oyelami




 Bimpe is a dance instructor, singer and actress from Iragbiji, Osun State Nigeria, West Africa.  She literally grew up on stage as a performer and a daughter of Chief Muraina Oyelami (Eesa of Iragbiji Land), a renowned Nigerian artist and her inspiration.  Apart from learning first-hand from Chief Muraina Oyelami, Bimpe graduated from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile Ife, Nigeria; where she studied acting and Yoruba Oral literature and culture.

An authority in Nigeria traditions, social and spiritual dance, Bimpe enjoys sharing her knowledge through organized classes/workshops in Nigeria and around the world. The extensive lists include ADZIDO dance company of London, The IWALEWA HAUS at Bayreuth University Germany, on the invitation of Late Uli Bier, where she was an artist -in residence in 1989, Eltvile on Sudan Africa Stage Berufliche Schuler Geisenheim/Gemenindehaus Derlurther Machen, Citi Center Dance Theater in Oakland, Manga Dance Company in Atlanta Georgia and most recently Dance instructor at John Hopkins University Maryland.

Bimpe was featured in ‘TEGONI’ directed by Nigerian playwright, Femi Osofisan, staged at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.  She wrote and choreographed ‘OYA' a dance drama performed in Atlanta by Barefoot Ballet Manta dance company in 1992. Bimpe was also featured in the movie ‘Owo Eje' produced by Remdel movie marketer.

Bimpe, the CEO, Yèyé Àsà Multicultural Group, currently reside in USA and a proud USA citizen.  She has produced numerous movies like ‘Gba Mi Gbo' directed by Rasaq Ajao (aka Araosan),  ‘Iya Oko Spaghetti’, directed by Sir Dele Ogundipe, and several stage performances globally.

Bimpe has worked with some known Theater gurus like Late Pa Oyin Adejobi, Chief Alabi Ogundepo, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, Late Ajileye, Late Isola Ogunshola (aka Isho Pepper), late movie director Ayo Ogunmola, Yemi Sholade, Boy Alinco, Peju Ogunmola, Razaq Ajao. Peter Fatomilola, Shola Duro-Ladipo Akinsola, Chief Kola Oyewo, Joke Muyiwa and a host of others.

Bimpe is currently the Vice President, Osogbo Wilmington Sisters City and the Secretary of TAMPAN USA Chapter.

 Bimpe was honored with the chieftaincy title ‘Yèyé Àsà' (Mother of culture) of Iragbiji Land by HRM, late Oba Timothy Oyelade in recognition of her artistic dedication and community contributions as an international arts ambassador.
